My stay at Corrina's
Maison Saint Antonin, France

Photography by Corinna Tough

My first morning at the gîte was like a scene from a French film. Soft music played in the background as I prepared a flaky croissant to enjoy with my morning tea. Through the open shutters, I watched the sun slowly illuminate cobblestone streets, still glistening from the previous night’s rain. It was as if the village itself was beckoning me to explore. Welcome to Maison Saint Antonin.

Getting There:

Though I could have flown from Paris to Toulouse and taken a short taxi ride, I opted for the scenic route by train. After all, who could resist gliding across the French countryside, baguette in hand and a curated French playlist in my ears? Six blissful hours later, I arrived at Corrina's gîte—Maison Saint Antonin.

Upon my arrival, Corrina greeted me with a lavish welcome spread: champagne, charcuterie, cheese, fresh croissants, and a warm loaf from the local boulangerie. It was the perfect post-journey feast, a gesture that immediately made me feel at home.

The Layout:

Photos don’t do justice to the charm of Corrina’s gîte. Stepping into the open-concept living room and kitchen, my gaze drifted to the beautiful aged beams above. The layout invites you to relax and settle into the warm, welcoming space.

Maison Saint Antonin is truly a place for rest and renewal. After a day of exploring, the large sectional and cozy lounge area await, perfect for unwinding in true French countryside style.

Though the gîte is centuries old, its ambiance is anything but dark or dreary. Natural light filters effortlessly through every room, casting a soft glow that enlivens the space.

The kitchen, spacious and thoughtfully equipped, is ideal for crafting your own French meal. Complete with a gas stove, ample counter space, and plenty of storage, it’s a dream for anyone who loves to cook. If you’re the chef of the family, this is your domain.

The Bedrooms:

Upstairs, the bedrooms welcome you with Queen-sized beds, adorned in soft linens, plush pillows, and thick duvets.

The bathroom is a retreat of its own, with blue tiles, a rain shower, and handcrafted Aesop soaps—a nod to Corrina’s Australian roots. Every detail has been considered, from antique French art to carefully chosen linens, creating an atmosphere that is at once luxurious and comforting.

It’s market day in Saint Antonin. From Maison Saint Antonin’s doorstep, the world feels quiet and still. But just around the corner, the village comes alive with sights, sounds, and scents that are purely French. The market stretches across town, bustling with vendors offering fresh seafood, artisan cheeses, and handmade homewares. It’s a weekly tradition that feels otherworldly—an immersion into the heart of village life.

Okay, time for a tour with me

Going to the
Market

Every Sunday, rain or shine, the market spills into Saint Antonin, an experience unlike any other.

Locals and travellers alike gather to enjoy the finest produce, wines, and unique wares. If you visit, make it a point to be here on a Sunday, and don’t leave without picking up a roasted chicken—a market favorite!

After collecting your loot from the market, make sure to stop for oysters and charcuterie in the main square.

Corrina’s passion for creating an authentic French experience is evident in every corner of Maison Saint Antonin.

She’s done what so many of us dream of but rarely pursue. She found a treasure, fell in love with it, and made a life in France. As my guide, she unlocked the best of Saint Antonin, creating an experience richer than anything I could have curated alone. Her dedication to welcoming guests has truly made Maison Saint Antonin a destination worth discovering.

Thank you, Corrina, for an unforgettable stay.

With love,
